Fox New Radio Host Mocks Heath Ledger's Death

FOX Radio Host Mocks Actor Heath Ledger in Death

by Press Release
Friday, January 25, 2008-In the wake of Heath Ledger's death, people around the world are mourning the gifted actor's passing and are expressing their appreciation for how he changed hearts and minds with his Oscar-nominated role as a gay cowboy in 2005's Brokeback Mountain.

In a stark and disturbing contrast, Fox News Radio host John Gibson cruelly mocked Ledger's death and his role in Brokeback Mountain during his Jan. 22 John Gibson Show radio broadcast.

During the show, Gibson played an audio clip from the film of Jake Gyllenhaal's character, Jack, telling Ennis (played by Ledger), "I wish I knew how to quit you." Gibson then coldly quipped, "Well, he found out how to quit you." Then, after playing another audio clip from the movie of Ledger's character saying, "We're dead," Gibson mockingly said, "We're dead" and played the clip again.

“Gibson’s remarks are vulgar and disgusting,” said Rashad Robinson, GLAAD’s Senior Director of Media Programs. “It’s sickening that Gibson would exploit Heath Ledger’s tragic death to promote such hurtful intolerance. And to do so at a time when family and friends are grieving shows a level of insensitivity that is beyond the pale.” The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is an organization dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Beyond his mockery of Ledger's role in Brokeback Mountain, Gibson called the actor a "weirdo" with "a serious drug problem," and callously speculated on the reasons Ledger might have committed suicide.

Gibson had previously mocked Brokeback Mountain--calling it a "gay agenda movie" on his Fox News TV program in 2006.

The Transformation

The Transformation

Angry boy to peaceful man
Allowing what is to be “BE”
My life has a divine purpose
My steps have been ordered
The transformation has begun

Love is my middle name
Joy is what I live for
To please GOD
And to love unconditionally
Every man and woman

Tears I have shed
On this journey of mine
This walk of faith
Believing in the miracles
Unseen to the human eye

Fear is falling to the wayside
Trusting in my Father
And his promise to me
To never leave me
And to always protect me
And most importantly Love me

For that I would walk thru fire
I would fast and pray for 1000 days
I would leave my job without a back up plan
I would move to the Red sea
And patiently wait for him
To tell me what to do NEXT

“Dirty Laundry” makes history with 2008 GLAAD Nomination
for Best Film!

January 21, 2008 - Sundance Film Festival, Park City, UT – The good news keeps on coming for the Maurice Jamal flick “Dirty Laundry”. On the same weekend of it’s expanded release, which had sold out shows in multiple cities, the film was announced as a 2008 GLAAD nominee for Best Film!

GLAAD President Neil Giuliano announced the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Award nominees at Sundance Film Festival. “This year's extraordinary nominees exemplify the important strides we have made as a community toward creating a truly inclusive society," said Giuliano.

Director/star Maurice Jamal was overcome with emotion and with tears in his eyes he said, “The work that I do is not about dollar signs, ticket sales or being on magazine covers. It’s really about telling stories that movie, uplift and incite people. This nomination represents something huge because it shows that we all have a voice that is valuable, powerful and unique.” The film continues to make history as it was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award, making it the only film to ever receive both nods.

The announcement came with huge applause from the audience, which included the film’s producers Andre Robert Lee, ReShaun Frear and Noah’s Arc Exec Prod Carol Ann Shine. “This film is about the heart, spirit and love that exists in us all. It’s not about family…it IS family.” Said Frear. Lee added, “We work so hard and never have time to think about awards, but tonight I am so proud and cannot stop smiling.”

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in New York on March 17, 2008 at the Marriott Marquis; in South Florida at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on April 12; in Los Angeles on April 26 at the Kodak Theatre; and in San Francisco on May 10 at the San Francisco Marriott. GLAAD also announced that it would recognize Special Honorees Brian Graden at the New York ceremony, Janet Jackson, Rufus Wainwright and Herb Ritts in Los Angeles

LM Ross presents The Moanin' After

From L.M. Ross, the LAMBDA Award-Nominated author of the haunting and poetic novel “Manhood… The Longest Moan,” now comes “The Moanin’ After…”

“Some people do not believe in ghosts. David Richmond didn’t always . . . but then suddenly life played its series supernatural tricks, and he slowly began to believe. If he squinted his eyes, just so, he could see those lost spirits. They were swaying and singing songs on Manhattan street corners. They were swinging from rooftops, and dropping down to the alleyways in the heart of the bowery.

David could have sworn he had seen them floating down and skulking around the aisles of bookstores. It was as if they were calling him, yearning for him to see them, and to read their stories.

And if you don’t believe in ghosts, if you never seen any evidence of their existence, then maybe only The Sensitives are truly meant see them, and to feel their cold breath on the skin. Maybe only a sensitive few can hear the tremor of their heartbeats rolling by. And even fewer will detect this long blue moan in their cries…”

A tribute to Janet Jackson

JANET.

I can remember playing the Control album
Over & over on my record player
My father bought me on my 13th birthday
What an awesome record I thought
Janet was asking
“What have you done for me lately?”

I can remember being an awkward teenager
Not feeling very attractive
Bad skin and chubby
But when I would listen to Janet in my room
She made me feel like I was cool

I watched this girl grow and change
I guess I had a quiet crush on her
And then I grew and changed along with her
She said take control
And so I did, I moved to Atlanta right after high school (1986)

My second year in Atlanta
I became an intern at A&M Records
I became a more confident young man
My skin wasn’t bad anymore and I wasn’t chubby
I was becoming me!

So Janet I thank you
For letting me know I was beautiful
And that there is life beyond the velvet rope
And for showing me
How to be sexy just being myself!

Janet talks about "Discipline"

A Passion For Discipline

Sitting across from a roaring fireplace one winter afternoon in Vail, Janet is curled up on a dark leather couch as she discusses the unlikely topic of Discipline, the title of her new album. Beyond the floor-to-ceiling window, long graceful branches of towering trees are heavy with snow. In the distance, a lift carries skiers up an imposing mountain awash in white. Janet's wearing a midnight-black sweat suit, her hair pulled back to the nape of her neck. Her body language is relaxed and her eyes are smiling. She's trim, and also a little hoarse, having just fought off a cold. The whisper-quiet texture of her voice adds to the intimacy of the conversation.

"Discipline has been much on my mind," she says. "It's the idea that unifies the songs on this record. As a concept, and even a lifestyle, discipline goes extremely deep. It can be applied to so much about ourselves. In my case, I see it as one of defining aspects of my character. Discipline was there for me from the start. But it was not until this record that I began to understand its full meaning.

"In putting Discipline out front-- as both the title of the album and title of a song about sexual surrender--I wanted to announce that I was venturing into new creative waters. That meant working with producers like Jermaine Dupri, Rodney Jerkins, and Ne-Yo, whose songs spoke to the immediacy of my emotions. Like all my records, this one, whether intentional or not, has autobiographical roots. It's difficult for me to work any other way. I don't feel it, if I don't believe it, I can't sing it.

"So Discipline, as a storyline, begins in my childhood which someone could see as a classic study in discipline. Discipline was part of a family culture that I absorbed. I was born with it.

"I also believe that discipline has given me the confidence to jump out of the nest. When L.A. Reid, Chairman of Island Def Jam, and I discussed co-executive producing this record, we both agreed that the feeling had to be adventuresome and fresh. I was interested in exploring musical scenarios--some exotic, many erotic, but all deeply emotional. I wanted to push the envelope. And I'm glad that 'Discipline,' both as a song and an album, does just that.

"'Feedback,' a Rodney Jerkins production, is a different metaphor that also explores sexual tension. It's a provocative conversation that invites openness in an area where so many of us are closed off. The same could be said for Rodney's "Roller Coaster," a musical ride that reflects that up and downs of romantic/physical agitation and excitement."

When asked how her concept of discipline has changed over the years, Janet reaches for her mug of hot tea, takes a sip and pauses several seconds before replying.

"Well, I guess if I go back to the beginning I see a little girl, 10-years-old, who's appearing on 'Good Times' and sets her own alarm clock to wake up at 5:30 AM in order to be at work by 7. Then I think about a 15-year-old starting to make records. For the next 25 years, she makes an album every two or three years without fail. Going a little deeper, she learns that the music most connected to her heart has a rhythmic and harmonic complexity that requires work. That means hours and hours trying to compose lyrics and melodies that ring true; hours and hours in the studio layering the vocals that contain the different voices she hears inside her head. Then, of course, the months she spends planning and executing world tours, one after another."

And does that artist see discipline as a burden?

"No, I see it as a blessing," Janet is quick to say. "As a child, I took it for granted. That's who I was. As a teenager, I wanted to sing and dance. I realized that required concentration. I wanted to reach people, and I had the good sense to see that couldn't happen if my skills weren't crafted with precision. But as I came to adulthood, I was hard on myself. Discipline is one thing; perfectionism is another. Perfectionism is a kind of punishment. It leads to permanent dissatisfaction and heartbreak. It's wonderful to strive for excellence, but demanding perfection only leads to heartache and frustration. It took me years to learn that difficult lesson. But in finally learning it, I now see discipline in a new light."

The light of the winter sun breaks through the grey sky and floods the room. Janet gets up and finds a copy of "Can't Be Good," a song written and produced for her by Ne-Yo, who also did "Discipline." She slips it into the CD player. The sensuous groove stops the conversation; it's all heavenly harmonies and sweet romantic ambivalence.

"The ambivalence and the discipline are in conflict," says Janet when the song stops. "I can relate to the story. In fact, I can imagine myself in the story. After a long relationship that ends in pain, I turn to my old friend, discipline. I discipline myself not to get involved, not to be vulnerable, not to fall in love. My discipline protects me from any more hurt. My discipline keeps me on track. But here comes someone who's so real and right that, as the song says, 'This can't be good.' So discipline really isn't discipline. It's just self-protection and fear of being hurt. It's resistance. Thankfully, the heat of pure passion melts the resistance. And the result is free-flowing love."

"Listen to 'Letchu Go,'" Janet continues. "It was written and produced by Jermaine. When I read the lyrics by Jermaine and Johnta Austin, I couldn't help but cry. The more I thought about the story, the more I saw how it reveals another aspect of positive discipline, especially as it relates to relationships. The song says that we can't stop trying just because we hit rough times. It's not too late; we can't give up on our fate; we can't let go of that discipline that allows us to work through problems and find a way to the wonders that come with open and honest love.

"The album expresses what I need to express at this moment of my life," she says. "It says that discipline, rather than being a problem, can bring pleasure. Discipline is a key to freedom. Discipline allows me--allows all of us--to focus. And the focus must be on thoughts and feelings that nourish our physical and spiritual lives.

"Funny, but my first big album also had a one-word title--Control. I was naive in thinking that I could control every aspect of my life. The only one who really has control is God. But it took discipline--the discipline of thought, the discipline of action, the discipline of creating music--to make me see that. Finally, discipline has to do with faith. I have faith that a gentle but steady discipline will let me continue to grow as an artist and a woman."

A Conversation with Shelton Jackson

It has been a moment since i last featured my good friend Shelton Jackson who i have had the honor and pleasure of knowing for 3 years now back at the Black Gay Men's Conference held in Brooklyn,NY in August of that year and at the time he was. Shelton has been a busy man as of late working on his 3rd book which will be coming out in the spring of this year Entitled "Taking off the Masks". So below is some of the things that has been goin on besides getting ready for his book to come out he also is working on his foundation dedicated to his first lover who died due to complications from HIV/AIDS and he his also has a publish company in the works.

The Book "Taking off the Masks" is my first book of poetry. it tells the story of my coming to terms with my homosexuality and telling my family and dealing with the rejetion from them. It explores my coming into my feelings for my first love, Conan R. Tyler and it takes you through the first couple of years of our relationship and ends right at his discovering his HIV positive status and my descison to became infected for his love. My logic being, "When you get sick i will take care of you and when I get sick you will take care of me. And we will live happily ever after."

And now we get into the foundation which is dedicated to his first love so here is what the Conan R. Tyler Foundation is all about.

The Conan R. Tyler Foundation will be up and running in about 3 months. It is going to be a nonprofit deadicated to getting the word that HIV is beatable. The person its named for Conan R. Tyler lost his battle becasue he waited too late to get help. But the help is there. The meds are there. And HIV can be Beat! I am doing and if I can ANYBODY can. The foundation will take that word around the world and tell peoples stories of beating HIV and living thier life the way God meant for them to.

It will also produce a monthly newsletter/magazine-Invisble that will tell the stories of the people that look like you and me. the people who feel like they made and thier story NEEDS to be told so that it can help someone else. We will make the World see them.

And finally we talk about his publishing company SSJ Publishing. My publishing company SSJ Publishing, Inc. will be publishing my 3rd book of Poetry Taking Off the Masks: One At a Time this April. And I will be touring this summer promoting the Conan R. Tyler Foundation as well as my new project, The Last Six Months & the First Six Months. That will be the story of how Conan R. Tyler lost his battle with HIV and he lead me to my destiny. Their will be a book, audio book, as well as a play. All in production now.

HAPPY 79th Birthday Martin Luther King Jr.

We would like to take a moment and remeber Dr.Martin Luther King Jr who today would have been 79 years old. Martin Luther King Jr was one of the main leaders of the American civil rights movement. A Baptist minister by training, King became a civil rights activist early in his career, leading the Montgomery Bus Boycott and helping to found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. His efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech, raising public consciousness of the civil rights movement and establishing King as one of the greatest orators in American history. In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non-violent means. So in your day to moving around please pause for a moment to remeber a great humanitarian.

A Book Worth Reading.....

A book worth reading..

Like the chapters in a book
I get excited as I turn the pages
Looking forward to what is to come
I love getting to know the characters
As the plot twists and turns
Never knowing what to expect

Just like getting to know you
The new character in my story
My leading man
My silly friend
My mysterious stranger
Adding drama and intrigue into my life

The curiosity in me
Wants to skip to the end of this book
To see if there is a happily ever after
To see if the love really never dies
And if there is some joy and laughter

I guess I will have to be patient and see
That each chapter is another day to see
If I am meant for you
And if you are meant for me
I just know one thing is for sure
You are a book worth reading…

New Missy Elliot:Ching-A-Ling,Get Up On It and Wiggle

New Missy Elliot from her upcoming albumn that will be out later this year. There has not been a date or title for her seventh studio albumn and the albumn will be produced by Timbaland and Danja. Even though we havent heard anything from Missy from a while she has been working hard behind the scenes as she produced and was featured on Olivia Longott's first single "Cherry Pop". She also appeared on the remix of Pretty Ricky's "On The Hotline" with Jim Jones and Timbaland's "Bounce" with Dr Dre & Justin Timberlake from Shock Value. She will be in the re-release of Justin Timberlake's second album (SexyBack Remix) and Nelly Furtado's "Do It" (Remix) and on the remix of Tambourine by Eve together with Swizz Beatz & Fabolous. The Wire: Seasons 1 thru 4 recaps

Just in time for the premiere of the final season of HBOs critically acclaimed show The Wire i wanted to go back and give you a refresher course of seasons 1 thru 4.

The Wire is an American television drama set and produced in Baltimore, Maryland. Created, produced, and primarily written by author and former police reporter David Simon, the series is broadcast by the premium cable network HBO in the United States. The Wire premiered on June 2, 2002, with 50 episodes airing over the course of its first four seasons. The fifth season, which Simon has said will be the show's last, is expected to premiere on January 6, 2008.

The plot of the first season centers on the ongoing struggles between police units and drug-dealing gangs on the west side of the city, and is told from both points of view. Subsequent seasons have focused on other facets of the city. The large cast consists mainly of character actors who are little known for their other roles. Simon has said that despite its presentation as a crime drama, the show is "really about the American city, and about how we live together. It's about how institutions have an effect on individuals, and how…whether you're a cop, a longshoreman, a drug dealer, a politician, a judge [or] lawyer, you are ultimately compromised and must contend with whatever institution you've committed to."

The Wire has received critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of urban life and uncommonly deep exploration of sociological themes, and has been called the best show on television by TIME,Entertainment Weekly,The Guardian, the Chicago Tribune, Slate, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Philadelphia Daily News. Despite the positive reviews, the show has failed to draw an audience commensurate with its press.

We now take a look back at all four seasons of The Wire with a video recap.

Rihanna Launches Line With H&M

Rihanna is joining forces with retailer H&M and other musicians such as Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance, Timbaland and Ziggy Marley to launch a collection of T-shirts, hoodies and tanks aimed at teens 15 to 24.

The line, called Fashion Against AIDS, launches in February and hopes to raise awareness of the disease among teens with slogans like "Believe" and "Stop and Think." Prices are expected to range from $12 to $34, and 25 percent of the sales from the collection will go to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world.

"Supporting YouthAIDS through the Fashion Against AIDS campaign was a great way to encourage my fans to join me in the fight against HIV/AIDS. I love that H&M is providing a fashionable and easy way for young people all over the world to get involved in this worthy cause," Rihanna said in a statement.

The Dog goes Gospel

There are reports out there that DMX better known as Earl Simmons will be releasing an gospel albumn this year but there's more its a double albumn that will also include a rap albumn. DMX came on the scene in 1998 with his first albumn entitled "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot" and now the lastest work is entitled "Walk with Me Now and You'll Fly with Me Later". possible guest on the cd will include 50 Cent, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Eve, Mary J. Blige, Nas and Swizz Beatz with production being handled by Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, J. R. Rotem and The Alchemist. The 2 upcoming singles "Back Like That" will be first single by DMX off his 7th album called Walk With Me Now and You'll Fly With Me Later. It is to be produced by Swizz Beatz and was scheduled for release while X was at Def Jam. X claimed that this song would make hip hop history but was said to be ignored and "Yonkers is Bonkers" will be the second single by DMX off his upcoming album Walk With Me Now and You'll Fly With Me Later. It is to be produced by Swizz Beatz and feature fellow Yonkers natives, Styles P and Jadakiss. X claimed that this song will bring New York back to the top.

Stayed tuned for any forth info on this DMX's 7th Studio albumn i think it will do really good due to the fact he did include gospel track in just about every albumn.

Rules for 2008. Happy New Year and Do YOU People. Below is the Rules for 2008:

Make realistic goals for yourself, write them down, pray about them
and try to achieve them!

Go through your cell phone, caller id, calendar, and email addresses
and discard all the people and events that mean you no good or don't
benefit your life!

Stop making excuses about your life and make changes!

If you are involved w/ a person, job, or circumstance that is doing
more harm than good, do yourself a favor - LET IT GO!

Stop being someone's mistress; especially if you are aware that you
are!!!!

If you are between the ages of 22-35 please start listening to more
than Hip-Hop!

Take care of your you and devote a weekend or two to spend
"quality" time with yourself. Who cares if you miss out on a "mix"! You
can party anytime!

Get your debt in order! Eventually you'll want a nice home and car in
your name!

Stop spreading senseless rumors and try to get your own life in
order!

Listen more! Talk Less!

Give without worrying about it!

Tell him no for once!

Tell people you love them before you hear about some great tragedy
in the world or lose a close friend!

Speak clearly and not ignorantly! Anyone can be a fool.

If you are married, stop cheating. If you're guilty of this, ask God
to forgive you and don't do it again! Remember the Ten Commandments.

Stop waiting on Tax Season and Save Now!

Eat what you need and not just because you can!

See how long you can go without checking your cell phone when it's
not ringing.

Be more positive and stop being a grouch! I didn't do it to you boo!

STOP HATIN! If you don't like my style, kick rocks! DO YOU!

Appreciate everyone. WHY do we put each other down for the most
ridiculous things?!?

Men and women! Cry more! It's therapeutic.
Stop tripping about not being where you want to be! What have you
been doing to get there?!?

If you aren't in relationship, it's not the end of the world! Self
love is more valuable!

Keep your opinion to yourself! We all know what others should do, but
what about you?

If God delivers you from a messy relationship, friend or situation,
why do you keep PULLING THEM BACK? Let it go!

FORGIVE! FORGIVE! FORGIVE! All of us have been forgiven for some low
life things! So open your heart! Remember - God forgave you.

Men, stop trying to be so hard when it comes to relationships. Let
that guard down before you lose the one that's meant for you!

Speak up for yourself!

Learn a new hobby! Broaden your mind.

If you're single, start going on more dates with different types of
people. Don't just stick to the same type of man!

Stop forwarding all the text messages you receive; everyone doesn't
have unlimited text messages!!

Live like today like is your last day, love like God taught us, and
laugh like you've never laughed before!

Lastly, if it's only 5 minutes a day have a little talk with Jesus!
Let Him know you want to be better today than you were yesterday and
watch Him turn things around for you
